Rhubarb is a cool season crop which is best planted in temperatures between 5- 20°C (41- 68°F)

Rhubarb is usually planted from crown in late autumn to early spring. Seeds or seedlings can be planted from spring through to autumn. 

Crowns should be planted roughly 5cm below the soil surface.

 Top- dress the soil around the plant with fresh compost, as well as an application of organic fertiliser in spring and autumn. 

Harvesting

When can I harvest Rhubarb?

Do not harvest any stalks in the first year of planting so that the plant can establish itself. After that, harvest the red stems as needed by gently pulling the stems off at the base.
