Home-Made Tea
Chocolate Mint & Stevia Tea
There is nothing quite like a soothing cup of tea, especially after a long day, and with so many tea combinations hitting supermarket shelves, it’s pretty tempting to want to try them all.. despite their not so soothing price tag!
Many of these tea varieties are actually just standard herbal blends that are so incredibly easy to make at home. You can even go one step further and grow your own, as they come from the most fuss free, low maintenance plants you can find!
In addition to standard herbs, you can try planting herb varieties that are less savoury in nature and perfect for adding an element of sweetness or fruitiness to your tea.
Lemon Verbena is delicious and smells absolutely incredible! When pressed between your fingers, it smells of lemon candy.
Chocolate Mint, just as the name suggests is a blend of mint with distinct chocolatey tones. Definitely worth having in the home garden.
Berries and Cream Mint, is a fruity and creamy minty blend which is perfect for tea, desserts and fruit salad. Just like Chocolate Mint, it is definitely a winner in the home garden.
Stevia Leaf is a sugar substitute, with no calories!! You will be shocked at how much sweetness can come from just one leaf! You can simmer fresh Stevia leaves in water to create a sweet syrup and use the syrup in anything that requires sugar. The leaves can also be dried and stored for later use.
Lemon Verbena & Stevia Leaf Tea: Place a small handful of freshly picked Lemon Verbena leaves and half the amount of Stevia leaves in a small pot, add a few cups of water and bring to the boil for roughly 2 minutes or until the water changes to a yellow-green colour. Strain out the leaves and it’s ready to enjoy! You may need to experiment with the quantities to suit your taste.
Chocolate Mint & Stevia Leaf Tea: This tea is made using the same process as above, with a handful of Chocolate Mint leaves and half the amount of Stevia Leaves. Place the leaves in a small pot, add a few cups of water and bring to the boil for roughly 2 minutes or until the water changes to a yellow-green colour. Strain out the leaves and enjoy! Again, just adjust the quantities to suit your taste.
Berries & Cream Mint Tea: This tea can be enjoyed simply by boiling up the mint leaves on their own, or with the addition of extra sweetness from the Stevia Leaf. Follow the same process as above and enjoy.
If you enjoy drinking tea, these three definitely won't disappoint!
